SPACE:
· The space feels secure and cozy
· The large window and the wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling window treatment create a feeling of grandeur and height in the space

· Horizontal lines create a contemporary feel, widen the space, and bring the eye level down
· Diagonal lines in positioning of the mirror and chairs, and the lines in the rug, add volume and freedom to the room
· Curved lines in furniture give a human quality to the room and create a softening effect
· Room looks serene and soothing but also bold

SHAPE:

COLOUR:

LIGHT:

BALANCE:
· If you cut the bed (and bedroom) in half, you will see that the room has symmetrical balance and a mirror image effect
· Two medium sized lights attached to ceiling coming down on either side of the bed; two night tables (with plants on them), one on each side of bed; words on feature wall are displayed on either side of the bed; pillows on bed (all symmetrical)
· Balance is achieved using pattern and arrangement, and using similar objects with similar weight
· Room is bright white with a lot of grey features
· Textured elements balance with smooth elements
· Room has a sense of formality and equilibrium

RHYTHM:
· Eye dances from curtain to feature wall to bed

· Progression: graduation of objects from small to large – decoration on side table, light fixture above side table, headboard, painting (level of placement increases and size of objects increases)
EMPHASIS:

· The designer has used a lot of contrasting details in the feature wall to make sure it stands out

PROPORTION AND SCALE:
· There is a good amount of furniture in the room
· The size of the room seems large and the largest item of furniture is the bed; the bed is a functional size and is in proportion to the feature wall
· The positioning of the furniture allows for space to walk around three sides of the bed
· The room has a tall ceiling and the height of the window treatment emphasizes that
· This room tries to follow the 60/30/10 COLOUR RULE – 60% white, 30% shades of grey, and 10% pink/black
HARMONY:
· This room has commonalities in shape, colour, texture, and lines
· Shape - rounded corners on bed frame, mattress, ottoman, chairs, and mirror
· Colour - pillows match the bed sheets, bed frame, and ottoman colour; throw pillow and throw blanket are in accent colour
