EDMONTON TRANSIT IS LEADING THE NATION IN THE ELECTRIC BUS INDUSTRY
The City of Edmonton has teamed up with Proterra, a company based in California, to provide Edmonton Transit with electric buses. The company will initially supply the city with two electric buses with plans to supply a total of 25 electric buses and have them as part of regular service by the summer 2020. Proterra offers clean-running and quiet electric buses that are winter compatible, and contribute to Edmonton's plan to become a low carbon city.
Proterra's chief commercial officer, Matt Horton, says he that this is a big step and is very happy with the news that one of the coldest major cities in North America has selected his company to provide the electric buses.
And the really good news, the City of Edmonton is the first city in Canada to add 25 electric buses to their transit fleet.
