EDMONTON CELEBRATES LEADERS IN ACCESSIBILITY AT THE 22ND ANNUAL MAYOR'S AWARDS


At the 22nd Annual Mayor’s Awards, held on May 28, the City of Edmonton’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) recognized accessibility leaders and advocates, which include: individuals, businesses and organizations that have made significant contributions to making a difference for persons with disabilities in Edmonton.

Awards in five categories were handed out by Councillor Scott McKeen on behalf of Mayor Iveson.

The recipients of the 2018 Mayor’s Awards are:

Accessible Homes and Buildings, Non-Residential: Diane David (Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Association)

Employers, Paid Employment: Mike Liber (Dairy Queen)

Ewen Nelson Self-Advocacy: the late Diane Butcher

Outstanding Service: Sherri Bessette (CapitalCare Laurier House Lynnwood)

Youth: Peter Anto Johnson

The event was held as part of National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) celebrations.
